LORETTO, Pa. – Four different players recorded double-digit kills as the Saint Francis men's volleyball team downed the Harvard Crimson in a five-set thriller on Senior Day at DeGol Arena. The Red Flash won the match, 22-25, 25-17, 25-13, 23-25 and 15-13.

The Flash improves to 17-8 on the season and 8-4 in the EIVA, while the Crimson falls to 11-10 overall and 7-5 in the EIVA. As it stands, SFU holds down the second overall seed in the EIVA.

Saint Francis finished with an impressive 13-2 record at home, and 17 wins ties coach Rumbaugh's career-high.

"Another great battle. We fought till the end, and Harvard never backed down. It puts us in the driver's seat to control our playoff fate," said head coach

Mike Marshman (Glenmont, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) capped off his Saint Francis home career with 15 kills on 19 attempts and only had one error. Marshman finished with an impressive .737 hitting percentage and added nine total blocks. As a team, the Flash finished with 12.5 total blocks.

Jeff Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) finished with a team-high 16 kills, while
Brandon Buck (Baden, Pa./Ambridge) added 12 and
Stephen Braswell (Manchester, Pa./Northeastern) recorded 11.
Daniel Ford (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) registered 51 assists and seven blocks, while
Gabe Woffindin (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) finished with a season-high 18 digs.Â

In the fifth set, the Flash sprung out to an early 5-1 lead. After both teams switched courts -- so did the momentum. The Crimson scored three unanswered points to pull within one at 9-8. The rest of the set would remain tight, but a Braswell kill gave the Flash the win, 15-13.

Both teams exchanged points in the first set, but Harvard would eventually take a 10-7 lead. Saint Francis used a 5-1 run to take a 16-14 lead. The Crimson went on a four-point run to gain a 21-19 advantage. An SFU attack error gave the Crimson the 25-22 win.

The Flash opened the second set with a 6-3 advantage. Saint Francis went on a 5-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. A kill by Hogan closed out the second set, 25-17.

Saint Francis never trailed in the third set, jumping out to a commanding 14-8 lead. SFU scored the last four points to cruise to a 25-13 win. The Flash hit .571 as a team, and held the Crimson to just a .040 hitting percentage.

It was Harvard that took the early lead in set four, but the Flash was able to tie the score at 17-17. With the scored tied at 23-23, the Crimson scored the last two points to take the set, 25-23.

Saint Francis concludes the 2016 regular season next weekend in a pair of conference matches against George Mason and the University of Charleston. Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m.
