NEW YORK – Junior running back Marcus Bagley (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights) ran for a career-high 220 yards as the Saint Francis football team earned a 13-9 road win at Columbia on Saturday.  The Red Flash picked up its first win of the 2016 season to improve to 1-2.

Saint Francis posted 397 total yards, including 273 on the ground.  Bagley led the way with 220 yards on 33 carries, both career-bests, with four runs of 15 yards or more, including a 39-yard burst on SFU's opening drive.

Bagley is the first SFU player to reach the 200-yard mark since Khairi Dickson (Cleveland, Ohio/Cleveland Central Catholic) ran for 216 against James Madison on September 13, 2014.  The Red Flash reached 200 yards as a team for the first time this season and the first time since November 14, 2015 against Robert Morris.

Senior quarterback Zack Drayer (Hershey, Pa./Hershey ) completed 11-of-23 passes for 124 yards and a 72-yard touchdown connection with sophomore wideout Kamron Lewis (Fresno, Calif./Edison).  The duo connected for touchdowns two weeks in a row after Lewis scored twice against Towson.  Lewis caught three passes for 77 yards, while Junior Ajayi (Delran, N.J./Holy Cross) caught four receptions for 32 yards.

On the day, Drayer moved into fourth place all-time at SFU with 3,905 career passing yards, bettering Jeremy Swords' 3,788 yards from 1997-99.  Drayer now has 303 career completions, moving into fifth all-time in program history, passing George Little (2005-09).

With two field goals on the day, senior Lance Geesey (Harrisburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) now has 48 makes in his career.  On his 48-yard field goal in the second quarter, Geesey made the eighth of his career from 40 yards or longer.

The Red Flash defense held Columbia to 266 total yards, including only 112 passing yards. Columbia quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg completed 15-of-32 passes, with a touchdown and an interception.  He added 43 yards rushing on 13 carries.  Running back Chris Schroer posted 73 yards on 14 carries, while Scooter Hollis caught five passes for 31 yards.  Cameron Dunn caught a three-yard touchdown pass.

Senior linebacker Solomon Leaeno (Kapolei, Hawaii/James Campbell) led SFU with 10 tackles, including four solo, 2.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.  Leaeno recorded two sacks in a game for the second time in his career, joining his performance at Duquesne last season.  Freshman linebacker Da'Jon Lee (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) had a major impact, adding nine tackles, with six solo, three for loss, a sack and a forced fumble.  Sophomore linebacker Ben Bruni (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) recorded eight stops.

Junior end Luke Weiss (Verona, N.J. /Verona) added a sack, while junior end Shawn McCord (Aberdeen, N.J. /Red Bank Catholic) had six tackles, with half a tackle for loss, and an interception.

The Red Flash got on the board first as Geesey hit a 28-yard field goal to complete SFU's first drive.  The drive covered eight plays and 61 yards over 2:37, including a 39-yard run by Bagley and a 16-yard catch by senior Myles Brooker (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown).

Saint Francis extended its lead to 6-0 with 6:32 left in the second quarter on Geesey's 48-yard field goal.  Starting at the SFU 41, a 12-yard pass from Drayer to Ajayi and a 13-yard run by Bagley helped SFU to get into field goal position for Geesey.

Columbia cut the SFU lead in half with a field goal in the third quarter.  Cameron Nizialek hit a 38-yard attempt to bring Columbia within three, 6-3, with 4:47 left in the quarter.  The Lions drove the ball to the SFU 16, but a sack by Leaeno and McCord forced fourth down.

The Red Flash extended its lead to 13-3 with 11:08 to go in the game.  Drayer connected with Lewis over the middle, as Lewis fought off a defender and tipped the ball to himself and did the rest, going 72 yards for a score.  The drive started with SFU at its own two after a punt by Columbia.  A 15-yard run by Bagley gave the Red Flash a little extra space to setup the touchdown pass.

The Lions answered with a touchdown with 10 seconds left to cut the SFU lead to 13-9.  Mornhinweg hit Dunn over the middle for a three-yard score.  However, The Lions missed the extra point.

The Red Flash finishes its four-game road trip next week at Albany.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium.  The Great Danes, ranked 25th in the STATS FCS Poll, are 2-0 entering tonight's game against Holy Cross.
