LORETTO, PA-Â After nearly a month away from the friendly confines of the Stokes SoccerPlex, the Red Flash men's soccer team returns home Wednesday to take on Bucknell at 3 p.m..
ABOUT THE FLASH
After splitting last weekend's Inaria Classic (Defeated Cornell 2-1 in 2OT, lost at Colgate 2-0), the Red Flash remain number five in the Northeast Regional rankings according to the latest coaches' poll. The Flash have gotten a balanced scoring attack so far this season with eight different players recording a goal through eight matches.
Troye Kiernan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and
Nicco Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) lead the team with two goals each. Defensively, the Flash have been solid, posting three clean sheets in their five victories.
Marcus Rojas (Fremont, Calif./Bellarmine College Preparatory) has played every minute in goal, and has a 1.10 goals against average and a .690 save percentage.Â
ABOUT BUCKNELL
The Bison come into the match at 2-4-1 on the season and were picked to finish sixth in the Patriot League. They have gone 2-1 against the NEC thus far with wins over SHU and FDU and falling to LIU Brooklyn. Like the Flash, Bucknell has gotten balanced scoring across the board with six different players recording a goal, led by Nick King's two. Unlike the Flash, they have been relying on a pair of freshmen in goal. Tyler Marchiano has gotten six of the seven starts and along with Emmett Witmer they have played to a 1.66 goals against average and a .684 save percentage.Â
