LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis women's volleyball team returns to action this weekend at the University of Toledo/ASICS Invitational for three matches. Saint Francis faces host Toledo on Friday at 10 a.m. in a match available to view on WatchESPN. SFU faces Marshall on Friday at 5 p.m., then the Red Flash finishes the weekend with a noon match against Fort Wayne on Saturday.

OPPONENTS
Toledo is 4-2 this season, and the Rockets had a four-match winning streak halted in its final match at the Houston Baptist Labor Day Classic with a four-set loss to the hosts. Toledo won two of three at Houston Baptist before winning two of three at an invitational hosted by Wright State.

After starting the season 1-2 at the Indiana Invitational, Marshall has won four of its last five matches to enter Toledo with a 5-3 record. Among those wins are five-set victories over West Virginia and Ohio and a sweep of Bowling Green on Wednesday night.

Fort Wayne snapped a three-match losing streak with a home sweep of Eastern Michigan on Tuesday night. The Mastadons' other two victories came against Youngstown State and Ball State in Fort Wayne's season-opening home invitational.

VERES AGAIN INTO RECORD BOOK FOR DIGS
A week after surpassing the 1,000 career digs mark, junior Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) had 29 digs in the team's five-set victory over Buffalo. That tied her for sixth place on the school's single-match record list. That's nothing new for Veres, though, as she now occupies three places among the school's top-ten digs totals in a single match.

Her two others came last season. She came just one dig shy of tying the school record when she had 32 against Central Connecticut. She's also tied for 10th place with the 27 digs she had in a match against Fordham last year. Nichole Hyer has the school record for digs in a match with 33 in a match in Oct. 2002.

AN INVITATION TO WIN
Saint Francis started the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational with a loss to Duquesne on Friday, but the Red Flash stormed back with a pair of wins on Saturday to finish the weekend with a 2-1 record. That gave SFU its first winning invitational in a couple of years, last accomplishing the feat in early Sept. 2014. That weekend at Loyola (Md.) looked similar to last weekend in Pittsburgh. Saint Francis lost the opening match of that invitational before winning twice on Saturday to finish at 2-1.

Saint Francis will look for winning records in two invitationals in the same season for the first time since the 2006 season. The Red Flash hasn't had back-to-back invitationals with winning records since 1999.

NATIONAL RANKINGS UPDATE
Veres and Elise Dumouchelle (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) continue to put up nationally relevant numbers in digs and service aces, respectively. Heading into this weekend, Veres is ninth in the NCAA in digs per set (5.52) and 17th in total digs (138). Dumouchelle is 14th in the NCAA in aces per set (0.63) and 34th in service aces (12). In all four of those categories, the SFU players are second in the NEC.
