Live Sunday: Stats | Video

???????Loretto, Pa. –
After recording seven non-league wins in 11 tries, the Saint Francis men's soccer team will open its conference slate at Central Connecticut State on Sunday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m.

Scouting CCSU

The Red Flash will have the luxury of playing the Blue Devils on short rest as CCSU faced Robert Morris last night, a  1-0 victory for the Colonials. The Blue Devils fell to 3-6-2 with the loss. Holding the Blue Devils' attack at bay will be key as they are 3-1 when scoring at least two goals. Former second team All-NEC selections Andres Muriel Albino and Ryan Taylor lead the team in scoring. Albino has registered three goals and three assists while Taylor has followed suit with two goals and four assists. The Blue Devils are vulnerable in the back as they have yet to record a clean sheet.

Series History

Saint Francis is 9-12-4 vs. Central Connecticut State, winning last year's battle 3-0 behind two goals from Francis de Vries (Christchurch, New Zealand/Cashmere) and one from Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township).

Scoring in Bunches

When the Red Flash get rolling they are a tough unit to stop. Saint Francis has scored three or more goals in five of 11 games and leads the NEC in goals (26), goals per game (2.36) and assists (19). Sixteen players have recorded at least one point.

Strong Bench

Head coach Antony Moore has the luxury of going to a deep bench when the Red Flash need a spark. The reserves have rewarded him with production across the board. Ten of Saint Francis's 26 goals have come from its bench, led by Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township), who has netted five goals in two games off the bench. Freshman Leonardo Ribeiro (Florence, Italy/Liceo Linguistico "G Pascoli") is second in bench scoring with two goals. The bench has also tallied 10 assists. Sophomores Jacob Gratzer (Olmstead Falls, OH/St. Edward's) and Renan Fuentes (Sao Paolo, Brazil/Colegio Joao XXIII) lead with two.
