HACKENSACK, NJ- Saint Francis used a strong second half to pull away from the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights and moved to 2-0 in NEC play for the first time since the 2012-13 season with a 80-56 win on New Year's Eve.

The Red Flash outscored FDU 44-24 in the second half en route to the victory. The Red Flash defense forced 27 turnovers, leading to 27 points. The Flash put the game away in the fourth, outscoring the Knights 25-12, with 14 of Kovatch's 24 coming in the final frame. The SFU balance shined again with five players reaching double figures and SFU getting 38 points off the bench.

- Ace Harrison (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor (Maryland)) set the tone early with a pair of driving layups and a steal to put SFU up 9-4
- Courtney Zezza (Plum, Pa./Plum) hit a pair of threes and had a nifty fake-to-lay up to pace SFU with 8 first quarter points
- Harrison had a pair of steals but picked up three early fouls
- Amina Markovic started strong for FDU, hitting all three of her shots as FDU kept pace

SECOND QUARTER RECAP
- Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) took on the early scoring load with five quick points in the quarter
- Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) hit a driving lay-up to give SFU its largest lead at 28-19
- Kovatch then picked up a loose ball foul, her third that forced her to the bench
- SFU was held without a field goal for the next three minutes, but strong SFU defense kept the lead at eight
- FDU scored six of the final eight points of the half to cut the SFU lead to four
- The Red Flash led 36-32 at the break, forcing 13 first-half turnovers in the process

THIRD QUARTER RECAP
- Kovatch started the third quarter in style with a step-back three
- The junior then picked up a steal and half court that led to an easy lay-up
- The Red Flash kept up the strong shooting with another Swogger three to put SFU up 11
- The lead would grow to as many as 13 in the quarter, and SFU maintained the double-digt lead
- SFU held FDU to just 12 points and led 55-44 after three
