SOMERSET, NJ- Saint Francis women's basketball has swept this week's Northeast Conference awards with guard
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) earning player of the week honors and guard
Caitlyn Kroll (Bridgeport, Ohio/Bridgeport) earning Rookie of the week accolades.
Kovatch grabbed the Conference's first 30-point night last Monday, dropping 33 in the Red Flash's comeback win at Cincinnati. After an 11-point outing against in-state rival Duquesne, Kovatch again hit for 30, going for 31 in a tight setback versus William and Mary. The junior hit 12 triples over the week and leads the NEC with 21 made threes on the season. The 75 points Kovatch scored this past week moved her into 11
th place on the Saint Francis all-time scoring list.
Kroll logged two-straight career highs to close the week for the Red Flash, scoring 18 at Duquesne and going for 22 against William and Mary. The point guard dished out five helpers against the Tribe and averaged three assists per game last week to go along with four rebounds per contest. The redshirt freshman kept defenses honest with five threes over the week and averaged 16 points per game. She iced the game at Cincinnati with a clutch free throw and got to the line often over the week, going 10-13 from the stripe.
The Red Flash sit at 3-4 on the season as they travel to New York City to take on Columbia on Wednesday. Tip time from the Big Apple is set for 7.
