Kindra Witthus (Hudson, Wis./Hudson) (Hudson, Wis.) turned on a pitch on the inner-half for a sixth inning grand slam to lift the Saint Francis softball team (4-1) to a 6-3 victory over Campbell (3-2) on Sunday in the final game of the Fairfield Inn and Suites Invitational.
Jennifer Patrick-Swift's Reaction
"Our pitching staff did a really good job today and kept us in the ball game," said head coach
Jennifer Patrick-Swift. "Our bats showed up late and Kindra came through with a huge hit. It's a good start for us to win four of five and two of three against a really good Campbell team."
Senior pitcher
Ketarah DeVries (Forreston, Ill./Forreston) (Forreston, Ill.) turned in a strong effort in the circle for Saint Francis, allowing just two hits in five innings. Unfortunately, shaky Saint Francis defense to the tune of four errors allowed the Camels to plate three unearned runs.
The Red Flash entered the sixth trailing 3-0 before erupting for five runs. Sophomore
Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) (Spring Grove, Pa.) opened the inning with a walk then moved to third two batters later on a towering double from junior
Madison Cabell (Ivor, Va./Southampton) (Ivor, Va.) off the wall in right center. Senior
Kelsie Marconi (Lowber, Pa./Yough) (Lowber, Pa.) drew a two-out walk to load the bases for sophomore
Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) (Williamsport, Pa.) who brought in the first SFU run when she was hit by a pitch.
Witthus turned the game on its head in the ensuing at-bat. Facing a two-strike count, she jumped on a pitch that caught too much plate and belted her ninth career home run.
Junior
Jordan Seneca (Plum, Pa./Plum) (Plum, Pa.) added a seventh inning insurance run with a solo shot to right field, her second homer of the tournament.
Senior
Ethel Santai (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove Area) (Pine Grove, Pa.) recorded her first win of the season with scoreless sixth and seventh innings.

Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) (DuBois, Pa.) added a triple.
The Red Flash will look to build off its 4-1 start next weekend at the Pirate Clash hosted by East Carolina.
