BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Francis women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Lehigh on Saturday.  Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) won her singles match at No. 3, but the Mountain Hawks won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches.  SFU is now 3-7 this Spring.  Lehigh improved to 3-2 in dual matches.

"We came up against a strong Lehigh team today," said Head Coach Rob Castille. "Credit goes to their girls for playing well. We struggled at No. 1 doubles today and that was a little deflating to go down so quickly.  I felt good about our chances going into singles, but again, Lehigh was just too solid today. We'll definitely talk things over and work on several things before our next match."

Freshman Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) and sophomore Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) competed at the top doubles spot against Lehigh's Christina Auyeung and Jamie Campisi.  The Red Flash duo fell 6-1.

At No. 2, sophomore Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and freshman Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) met Lehigh's Sibel Can and Leigh Friedman.  In a tough set, the SFU pair dropped a 6-5 result, falling 7-3 in the tiebreaker.

The Mountain Hawks won the match at No. 3 by default due to no SFU player available.

In the match at No. 3, Miller took on the Mountain Hawks' Grace Lin.  The Red Flash sophomore claimed the opening set, 6-4.  She repeated that performance in the second frame, winning 6-4.  Miller improved to 6-4 this Spring.

Seigford met Lehigh's Auyeung at No. 1.  The SFU rookie took the first set, 6-4.  Auyeung responded by winning the second set, 6-2.  In the deciding set, Auyeung came out on top, 6-2.

Gutierrez competed against LU's Can at No. 2.  Gutierrez fell 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 4, Bode faced Lehigh's Briana Maravich.  The Red Flash sophomore dropped the first set, 6-4, but bounced back to win a tough second set, 7-6, with a 7-4 win in the tiebreaker.  In the super-tiebreaker third set, Maravich came out on top, 10-7.  Bode is now 5-5 this Spring.

Freshman Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) met Lehigh's Cruz at No. 5.  Dunleavy dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision and is now 5-5 in dual matches.
