LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team hosts Niagara and Mount St. Mary's this weekend. The Red Flash meets Niagara on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club. SFU takes on Mount St. Mary's on Sunday at 1 p.m. at The Club Sport and Health in Monroeville.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 4-8 this Spring, including 1-0 in the NEC, after splitting its matches last weekend. SFU fell 7-0 at Buffalo, but bounced back for a 5-2 win at St. Bonaventure. In the win over the Bonnies, SFU won five singles matches and a doubles match.
Freshman
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) earned a win at No. 1 against SBU for her fifth win this Spring. Fellow rookie
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) picked up her third dual-match win with a victory at No. 2.
With a win at No. 3, sophomore
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) recorded her team-best seventh win this Spring. Sophomore
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) is 6-6 this Spring after a victory at No. 4 and freshman
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) is also 6-6 after a win at No. 5.
Bode and Seigford picked up their first doubles win of the Spring, with a victory at No. 2 against the Bonnies. Gutierrez and Miller have one win at No. 1.
Niagara is 1-10 this Spring, with a win against Daemen College (8-1). Last Thursday, Niagara fell 6-1 against Illinois-Chicago. Junior Stella Peisakhova has two wins at No. 1 this Spring.
Mount St. Mary's has a 3-6 record in dual matches, with wins over Monmouth (6-1), Norfolk State (4-3) and Marian (6-1). The Mount defeated Norfolk State and Marian last weekend.
Freshman Alexa Quintanilla leads The Mount with a 6-3 record, including a 5-2 mark at No. 1, this Spring. Freshman Hannah Davis has four wins, with three coming at No. 5. Quintanilla and junior Sruthi Kamprath have combined for three wins at No. 1 doubles.
