DANBURY, CONN- Saint Francis sophomore guard
Jessica Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) has been named a second-team Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star, the conference announced Thursday, marking the second-straight season Kovatch has earned ECAC All-Star status.
Â
The ECAC is considered the nation's largest conference, consisting of over 300 schools across all three NCAA divisions. There are 88 schools in the ECAC Division-I ranks.Â
Â
The sophomore led the Red Flash, the Northeast Conference and was 11
th in the NCAA in scoring at 21.2 points per game. She broke the Saint Francis single-season record for made threes with 110, a mark that was good for seventh in the nation and her 3.4 threes per game average was third in the NCAA. Those marks are steady improvements from her freshman season (20.9 ppg/98 threes/3.16 per game) when she was named NEC and ECAC Rookie of the Year.
Â
This accolade adds to an already impressive resume for Kovatch. She became the fastest player in Saint Francis history to 1000 career points, doing so in her 47
th game this season at Robert Morris. The 47 is a magic number as it is tied for the 20
th fastest in NCAA women's basketball history to that milestone as she became the 25
th person to clip 1,000 points in 47 games or fewer.
Â
The Phillipsburg, New Jersey native is the lone Northeast Conference representative on the ECAC All-Star list and one of just four underclassmen. You can view the full All-Star team list below.
