LORETTO, Pa. – The Saint Francis Women's Tennis team concludes its home schedule with two matches this weekend. The Red Flash meets Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, April 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Greensburg Racquet Club. On Sunday, SFU takes on Duquesne at 1 p.m. at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Club in Pittsburgh.
The Red Flash, led by Head Coach
Rob Castille, is 7-8 overall and 3-0 in NEC play. SFU is riding a four-match win streak after a 5-2 win at Sacred Heart on Friday. Saint Francis won all five singles matches it played, accomplishing that for the third straight match.
Sophomore
Stephanie Miller (Washington, D.C./St. John's College High School) leads the Red Flash with 10 singles wins this Spring, with a 10-5 mark while playing at No. 3 and No. 4. Sophomore
Raksha Bode (Reunion, Fla./Florida Virtual School) and freshman
Kathryn Dunleavy (Farmington Hills, Mich./Mercy) each have nine dual match wins. Bode is 9-6, while playing at No. 3 and 4, and Dunleavy is 9-6 at No. 5.
Freshman
Lucia Seigford (Madrid, Spain/Mirasur) is 8-7 this Spring and is 4-3 since moving up to the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Fellow rookie
Laura Gutierrez (Bogota, Colombia/Cibercolegio UCN) has six wins, with a 4-3 mark at No. 2.
Gutierrez and Miller have combined for two wins at No. 1 doubles. Bode and Seigford have three wins at No. 2.
Fairleigh Dickinson is 4-5 overall and makes its NEC debut this weekend. The Knights own wins against Hofstra (5-2), Colgate (4-3) and Bucknell (4-3). Earlier this week, FDU matched up against Saint Peter's and Fordham, with a 6-1 win over Saint Peter's and a 6-1 loss against Fordham.
Duquesne is 10-6 overall, with wins over Cleveland State (6-1), Youngstown State (4-3), Eastern Michigan (5-2), Saint Joseph's (7-0), St. Bonaventure (6-1), Carnegie Mellon (7-0), Saint Louis (4-3), Towson (4-3), Norfolk State (7-0) and South Dakota (5-2). Last weekend, the Dukes fell 6-1 at James Madison. Duquesne battles Fordham on Friday before facing SFU on Sunday.
Dukes sophomore Julianne Herman is 13-2 this Spring, playing all of her matches at No. 2, while junior Kylie Isaacs is 9-6 at No. 1. Herman and Isaacs have combined to go 10-3 at No. 1 doubles.
