  • Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led the Flash with 14 digs
  • Veres and Lauren Williams (Reno, Nev./Damonte Ranch) each added a service ace
 
ANNAPOLIS, MD- A hot hitting Naval Academy was too much on Saturday morning as SFU fell 25-18, 25-16, 25-9 to the Midshipmen in the second of three matches for SFU at the Kristen Dickmann invite hosted by Navy.  
 
 
TURNING POINT
  • Navy broke open a 7-7 first set tie with three-straight points and never looked back in taking the first set
  • Kills by Kelsey Roush (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) and Marcinowski got SFU within a point early in the second set but Navy responded by winning seven of the next nine points to break open the set
  • The Midshipmen hit .579 in the third set and won 10 of 11 points midway through the set to put the match away
 
HIGHLIGHTS
  • Emily Marcinowski (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) led SFU for the second-straight match in kills, finishing with eight
  • Five players had at least three kills for the Red Flash in a balanced offense
  • Despite the balance, the Naval defense held SFU to just a .020 hitting percentage
  • Navy had a 9-2 advantage in total blocks
  • Four Midshipmen had at least four kills as Navy hit .354 in the match
 
LOOKING AHEAD
