Patrick Wrencher signs pro contract with Newcastle Knights

Newcastle, England - Former Saint Francis forward Patrick Wrencher (West Chester, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) signed a pro contract to play for the Newcastle Knights of the NBL Division I and Bucs Northern Premiership in England on Monday.

The Newcastle Knights are an extension of Newcastle University so Wrencher will pursue his master's degree in Global Resource Human Management during his rookie season.

"I am extremely excited for Patrick," said head coach Rob Krimmel. "This is a great opportunity for him to continue his basketball career at the professional level. In addition to playing professionally, Patrick is also going to be able to achieve one of his other goals and obtain a Masters Degree during his time in England."

Wrencher appeared in 79 career games in a Saint Francis uniform, shooting 52.8% from the field for his career.

He joins Devin Sweetney ('10) and Georgios Angelou ('17) as former Red Flash players to have already signed professional contracts for the upcoming season.

Last season, the Knights reached the final four in the BUCS playoffs, earned promotion to NBL division 1, and won the Patron's Cup.
