LORETTO, PA- The Saint Francis Red Flash are set for their first two-match weekend of the conference season when they welcome in Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday and Sacred Heart on Saturday night.
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash are coming off a tough setback in four sets to Robert Morris. Saint Francis was led by a trio of attackers in
Emily Marcinowski (Strongsville, Ohio/Padua Franciscan),
Emily Pieper (Paonia, Colo./Paonia) and
Kelsey Roush (Johnstown, Pa./Richland). Marcinowski had a match-high 16 kills while Pieper and Roush had 13 kills and Roush added 21 digs. Over the season, Roush is second in the NEC with 190 total kills and an average of 3.88 per set. Marcinowski is fifth in the NEC at 3.35 kills per set. Defensively, the Red Flash are third in the NEC in digs at just over 16 digs per set, led by
Jenna Veres (Independence, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) who leads the NEC with 5.71 digs per set. It will be a contrast of styles between the two teams this weekend, FDU leads the NEC in digs per set at over 17 while Sacred Heart leads the NEC in kills per set.Â
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
The Knights come into the match at 3-12 overall and fell to Sacred Heart in four sets. They are led offensively by Taylor Wyckoff and Magdalena Maksimovic who average over two kills per set. Defensively, Carly O'Sullivan leads the team in digs at over four per set. As a team, the Knights lead the NEC in digs at over 17 per set.
ABOUT THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart comes into the game at 7-6 and 1-0 in the Northeast Conference. They have two of the top attackers in the conference in Liisel Nelis and Makayla Dole who average 3.47 and 3.36 kills per set, respectfully. As a team, the Pioneers are leading the Northeast Conference in kills, averaging close to 13 per set. Defensively, the Pioneers have five players who have at least two digs per set. The Red Flash will also have to look out for SHU's service game, they are second in the NEC in aces and have two of the top-10 servers in conference.Â
