Loretto, Pa.- Three first half goals catapulted the Saint Francis men's soccer team (7-3-3, 3-0-2 NEC) to a 4-2 victory over Central Connecticut State (0-11-1, 0-5 NEC) on Friday afternoon.

"Any time you get into an NEC match, it always ends up as a dog fight," said head coach
Frank Olszewski. "The players responded on the attacking end which helped us create some opportunities and be able to finish. We have a big matchup on Sunday so we have to shift our focus and be ready to take the field."

Leonardo Ribeiro (Florence, Italy/Liceo Linguistico "G Pascoli"). He slipped it in for his third goal of the season to give SFU a much-needed two-goal cushion.
Highlights
- Senior Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) opened the scoring in the seventh minute with his seventh goal of the season off a penalty kick. Ribeiro drew the foul to set up the Mastrangelo penalty kick.
- In the 22nd minute, sophomore Kevin Smolyn (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) set up Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) with a sublime pass between two defenders as hed secured his second goal of the game and eighth of the season. Senior Eric Ganime (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Icaro) was also credited with an assist.
- Sophomore Filip Burnett (Germantown, Md./Poolesville) delivered a beautiful cross to sophomore Gabriel Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Lausanne Collegiate School) as he headed it to the right corner of the goal to notch his third goal of the season.
- The Blue Devils answered in the 29th minute on a goal from Sebastian Calderon as he capitalized off an SFU turnover.
- Two minutes later, CCSU cut the Red Flash lead to one as Louis Beddouri connected on a sharp angled shot that sneaked inches past freshman Jonas Dieseler (Duesseldorf, Germany/Lessing Berufskolleg).
