Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | David Halstead

SFU falls on the road at Youngstown State, 80-56

Youngstown, Ohio – Saint Francis women's basketball (2-6) fell into a third quarter shooting slump and was unable to respond to a Youngstown State scoring run as the Red Flash lost on the road to the Penguins, 80-56, on Saturday at the Beeghly Center. Jess Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) led SFU for the third straight game with 19 points, while Karson Swogger (Bellwood, PA/Bellwood-Antis) added ten points.

Robinson Fruchtl's Reaction
"We played really good defense at the start of the game and then we were just out of sync the rest of the night both defensively and offensively," Interim Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl said. "We had too many fouls in the first half and it put us in a hole. We have to become a better defensive team without fouling. We got out-rebounded tonight and that's something that continues to be a limiting factor for us to be successful on the court."

  • Youngstown State responded with a 15-0 run to seize a 17-9 lead with just over a minute to play
