My Old Loretto Home: Water Polo Hosts Solo Homestead of the Season

Loretto, Pa- Your Saint Francis Red Flash water polo team hosts George Washington and Harvard on Saturday and Indiana and Bucknell on Sunday. It will be the only homestead of the season so be sure to visit the Stokes Natatorium this weekend. Additionally, CWPA conference play starts weekend for the Red Flash.
 
Scouting George Washington
 
The Colonials enter Saturday's matchup with a 9-6 record. Their most recent outing was a 14-12 OT victory over VMI. George Washington boasts an arsenal of weapons with four players scoring over 20 goals this season. Alana Ponce, a freshman, leads the team with 30 goals. Dara Bleiberg is first in points (48) on 25 goals and 23 assists. Katherine Moeller is the leading goalkeeper with 73 saves. The Colonials and the Red Flash previously met this season at the Bison Invite where George Washington won 21-13. The Red Flash are 1-3 all-time against the Colonials.
 
Scouting Harvard
 
The Crimson are currently 11-10 on the season after playing in the Loyola Marymount Invitational. Like the hues of red, Harvard has a variety of options at its disposal. Kristen Hong leads the team with 43 goals. Sofia Carrera-Justiz supplies the ammunition with 40 assists and 27 steals. Both goalkeepers Cleo Harrington and Sam Acker have 122 saves. Head coach Ted Minnis is in his eighth season at the helm and has the most wins in Harvard history.  Saint Francis is 0-1 all-time against Harvard.
 
Scouting Indiana
 
The Hoosiers visit Loretto with a 17-5 record coming off the Sun Devil Invite. Kelly Matthews and Jennifer Beadle are the leading offensive scorers with Sarah Myers and Joelle Nacouzi providing ample support. Mackenzie Rosenthal has 28 steals. Jessica Gaudreault is the main goalkeeper. Ryan Castle enters his second year as the head Hoosier. Saint Francis is 0-2 all-time against Indiana.
 
Scouting Bucknell
 
The Bison enter the weekend sporting an 8-11 record and receiving a vote in the CWPA Poll. Like a mighty herd, the Bison do not rely on a single scorer but a multitude of options to hammer the nets. Kali Hyman leads the squad with 26 goals. Emily Konishi and Colleen Barron have 24 and 20 goals respectively. Manuela Herrera has protected the nets with 115 saves. Saint Francis lost 8-13 to Bucknell to open the season at the Bison Invite and is currently 0-2 all-time against Bucknell.
 
Senior Day
 
The 6:00 p.m. matchup against Harvard on Saturday will be Senior Day for Argentina Bonilla (Los Angeles, Calif/Birmingham (LA Valley College)), Melani Aghazarian (Glendale, Calif./Glendale (La Valley College)), Lani Merrill (San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente (Saddleback College)), Krysta Ponek (Panama City Beach, Fla./Arnold (Utica College)) and Missy McCreary (Altadena, CA/LaSalle (Citrus College)). These five seniors laid the foundations for the burgeoning program.
 
Frankie's Cup
 
Additionally, the match against Harvard is the Frankie's Cup game. Come out and support Water Polo while earning points for your squad.
