Loretto, Pa.- The Saint Francis men's soccer team (2-1) scored two first half goals to take down Bucknell (1-1) 2-0 on Sunday.

"Any win at this level is a good win," said head coach
Frank Olszewski. "We battled through some adversity which made things a little more difficult on ourselves but we fought through it and played well."

- The Red Flash came out guns a blazing in the first half, outshooting Bucknell 13-1. Sophomore Gabriel Castro (Belo Horizonte, Brazil/Lausanne Collegiate School) recorded three of those shots, all of which drifted just wide. Sophomore Brandon Ott (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) also had an opportunity with a header off the crossbar
- With the score knotted at 0 with 35 minutes left in the first half, sophomore Kevin Smolyn (Holland, Pa./Germantown Academy) laid off a perfect pass to sophomore Lucas Rosa (Atibaia Brazil/COC Atibaia) who drilled the back-left corner of the goal to give SFU a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) scored his second goal of the season off a penalty kick which extended the Red Flash's lead to 2-0 with four minutes left in the half.
- SFU had another opportunity to score in the second half when sophomore Christian Kirchhoff (Aarhaus, Denmark/) sent in a beautiful cross to Leonardo Ribeiro (Florence, Italy/Liceo Linguistico "G Pascoli") but the sophomore put his shot into the side-netting.

- SFU led the Bison in shots, 11-9.
- Freshman goalkeeper Jonas Diesler earn his first career start and shutout in the victory.
- Smolyn recorded his first assist and point of the season.
- Castro and Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) led Saint Francis with four shots each.
- SFU hasn't allowed a goal in regulation this season.
- Mario Mastrangelo (Venetia, Pa/Peters Township) is third in school history with 31 career goals.
