LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis scored on all six first-half possessions and ran up 417 yards of offense and four rushing touchdowns in a 59-3 rout of West Virginia Wesleyan on Youth Day and Family Weekend at DeGol Field.
BOX SCORE HIGHLIGHTS
Nick Rinella (Collegeville, Pa./La Salle College) returned a punt 79 yards for a touchdown, marking the longest punt return in school history, breaking the 70 yard punt return by Ted Heisel against Saint Vincent in 1978.
Kam Lewis had a season-high 138 yards on eight receptions including a highlight-reel grab in the back of the end zone for his third touchdown of the year.
Bear Fenimore (Austin, Texas/Westwood) threw for 226 yards on 18-of-22 passing and three touchdowns to three different receivers, the third-straight game Fenimore threw for three scores.
On the ground, the Red Flash rolled up 185 yards on 31 carries and four touchdowns by four different ball carriers.
Chris Cropper (Wilmington, Del./St. Frances Academy) led the charge as the freshman went for 94 yards on 12 carries and a 44-yard touchdown run on fourth down.
Jymere Jordan-Toney (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin) had 10 carries for 60 yards and a score while
Kei-Shon Graham (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) scored his first collegiate touchdown.
Defensively, the Red Flash were again led by
Ben Bruni (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), who had seven stops and a pair of sacks. Collectively, the #darkside had 10 tackles for loss and three sacks, limiting WV Wesleyan to just 115 yards of total offense. It is the first time the Red Flash have held an opponent below 200 yards since East Tennessee State had 186 in a 58-9 Red Flash win in October of 2015.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER RECAP
- The Red Flash defense put together a pair of sacks on the Bobcats' opening possession
- On the first play from scrimmage for the Red Flash, Bear Fenimore (Austin, Texas/Westwood) found EJ Jenkins (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) in the corner of the end zone to make it 7-0 Red Flash after the extra point
- Again the SFU defense proved suffocating, forcing a punt after just five plays
- Nick Rinella (Collegeville, Pa./La Salle College) took the low, 37-yard kick 79 yards up the near sideline for the longest punt return in school history to make it a two-score lead for the Red Flash
- After forcing another punt, the Red Flash faced a fourth-and-one from the Bobcats' 44 where Chris Cropper (Wilmington, Del./St. Frances Academy) blew threw the traffic in the middle of the field, kept his balance and rolled in for the score to make it 21-0 Red Flash, SFU would lead by three scores after the first
SECOND QUARTER RECAP
- SFU again forced a three-and-out for the Bobcats and again the Red Flash offense went on the move
- Just inside the red zone, Fenimore threw a stop-fade into the corner of the end zone, Kam Lewis high-pointed the ball and leapt over top of the of the defender to take the ball away for the score
- The story would repeat itself on the defensive end and the offense again took over, Fenimore threw his third touchdown of the half, finding Zack Campbell on a screen and the wide out did the rest, shifting his way through the Bobcats' defense and absorbing a hit as he hit the pylon to make it 35-0 SFU after the extra point
- West Virginia Wesleyan would get a first down but nothing more on their next possession, leading to the longest drive for the Red Flash on the night
- SFU embarked on a nine-play 75 yard drive, mostly on the grounds, capping in a Jordan-Toney 15-yard run as SFU took a 42-0 lead into the locker room
THIRD QUARTER RECAP
- The Red Flash would get the opening kickoff of the second half and picked up right where they left off
- Kam Lewis caught a 39-yard pass, putting him over the 100-yard mark for the first time this season and 12th time in his career
- The drive would stall at the Bobcats' 29 yard line and Eric Bofenkamp (Warren, Ohio/John F. Kennedy) drilled a 46-yard field goal, the longest of his career
- Saint Francis' string of seven scoring drive would stop on their next possession as Andrew Zecca (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) pinned the Bobcats back at their own 2
- Ben Bruni (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) sacked Luke Casey on a fourth-and-six for the Bobcats, as SFU forced the game's first turnover
- The Red Flash would take a 45-0 lead into the final quarter
FOURTH QUARTER RECAP
- Tyler Magaha (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Jefferson) would cap the drive off the turnover with a one-yard touchdown plunge for his first score of the season just minutes into the quarter
- The teams would trade punts as Zecca boomed a 52 yard kick again pinning Wesleyan inside their own 10
- Martin Foray Jr. recorded his first interception of his career on third down of the ensuing drive, setting SFU up deep in WV Wesleyan territory
- It would take Kei-Shon Graham (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) just two carries to get his first TD of his career, capping the Red Flash scoring
- The Bobcats would take the ball off the kickoff and march 13 plays and 56 yards over seven-plus minutes for their only points of the night, a 33-yard field goal
- SFU would run out the clock to ice their second win of the season

The Red Flash will enjoy their bye week next week as this game closed out their non-conference slate. Saint Francis begins Northeast Conference play on October 13 as they travel to Wagner to take on the Seahawks at noon in a game that can be seen on ESPN3.
