LORETTO, PA- It will be a quick turnaround for the Red Flash, fresh off a weekend tournament in Kentucky, Saint Francis heads to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.Ā
Tuesday night will be a rematch from last year's marathon match in DeGolĀ Arena, won by the Dukes 15-12 in the fifth set. It will be the first time that the Red Flash make the trek to the PalumboĀ Center since the 2011 season.Ā
ABOUT THE RED FLASH
The Red Flash's tough non-conference continued last weekend as SFU took on Morehead State, Wright State and Mercer as part of the MSU Comfort Inn-Vitational. The Red Flash battled in each of the three matches and for the second weekend in a row,
Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch)Ā was named to the all-tournament team. The freshman totaled 37 kills on the weekend and leads the team and is second in the Northeast Conferece in kills. Fellow freshman
Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) added 34 kills on the weekend to go along with five blocks. The two freshmen are one-two in kills on the team with Tyus averaging nearly four kills per set.Ā
ABOUT DUQUESNE
The Dukes come into Tuesday's match at 2-3 on the season after going 1-2 at their host tournament. Duquesne defeated Bowling Green before dropping matches to UNLV and Youngstown State. Maria MosbacherĀ returns for the Dukes and continues to lead them in kills, averaging over 2.7 kills per set. She had 24 kills in the Dukes' five-set win over SFU last year. Freshman Summer Slade has come to lead the team in hitting percentage at over .300 and had 13 kills against Youngstown State. CamrynĀ Vecera leads the defense, averaging over five digs per set.Ā
