PITTSBURGH, PA- Three players recorded double-doubles and the Red Flash rallied back to force a fifth set but were ultimately edged out 15-13 in the final set at Duquesne on Tuesday night.

Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) (19 kills 20 digs),
Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, OH/Beaumont School) (28 assists 10 digs), and
Alexis Lambert (McKinney, Tx./McKinney-Boyd) (10 kills, 10 digs) all posted double-doubles for the Red Flash.
Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) added 13 kills and a match high 345 hitting percentage in the razor-thin set back.

SET ONE
- The teams were even early, trading the first eight points of the set
- Duquesne grabbed momentum, winning five-of-six points to go up 12-7 and force an SFU timeout
- A Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, OH/Beaumont School) ace and a pair of Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) kills led the comeback charge to tie the match at 13
- The teams would trade points until 17-all when kills from Tyus and Alexis Lambert (McKinney, Tx./McKinney-Boyd) tipped the set into SFU's favor
- A Sophia Esposito (Coraopolis, PA/Montour (Gardner-Webb)) kill forced a Duquesne timeout and a pair of errors by the Dukes completed the comeback and gave SFU set one at 25-20

SET TWO
- The Dukes came out swinging, forcing an SFU timeout after winning five of the first six points
- The Duquesne lead would increase to eight before a pair of Tyus kills got SFU going
- The Red Flash would have to settle for trading points with the Dukes, unable to carve into an eight-point lead
- A Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) kill and a block from Cecilia Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) were highlights late for the Red Flash but Duquesne evened up the match at a set each with a 25-13 set two victory

SET THREE
- This time it would be the Red Flash getting off to the hot start, breaking open a 2-2 game with six-straight points off Elise Dumouchelle's (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run) serve that included an ace
- Kills from Tyus and Cecilia Esposito (Coraopolis, Pa./Montour) helped the Red Flash maintain a six-point edge as they traded points with the Dukes
- Duquesne would force a timeout, winning five-straight points to cut the SFU lead down to 17-15
- SFU would stretch the lead back to four on Alexis Lambert's (McKinney, Tx./McKinney-Boyd) serve but the Dukes would answer back to cut the lead to two
- A couple of long rallies would go the way of the Red Flash, who grabbed a 22-17 lead, only to see the Dukes win three-straight points to force a Red Flash timeout
- Duquesne would come all the way back out of the timeout to lead 24-22 off seven-straight points
- A Tyus kill off a block inadvertently hit the freshman, giving Duquesne set point at 25-22

SET FOUR
- Duquesne jumped out early, winning the first three points to force an early SFU timeout
- The Dukes would win the first five points of set four before an Adams' kill got SFU on the board
- SFU would close the early gap down to two off a kill from Sophia Esposito (Coraopolis, PA/Montour (Gardner-Webb)) and a pair of Duquesne errors
- The Dukes would stretch the lead back out to five as SFU made a pair of errors of their own, forcing SFU to take their final timeout
- Kills from Sophia Esposito (Coraopolis, PA/Montour (Gardner-Webb)) and Lambert trimmed the lead to three but SFU couldn't cut any further
- The Red Flash would get within three on a trio of occasions but couldn't get closer until a Jess Barrett (Broadview Heights, OH/North Royalton) ace trimmed the lead to two
- The Dukes' lead would maintain a two-point lead until a Lambert kill made it 21-20 and an Adams' kill tied the set at 21
- A long rally tipped the way of the Red Flash off a Duquesne error, giving SFU their first lead of the set at 22-21
- Sophia Esposito (Coraopolis, PA/Montour (Gardner-Webb)) ended another long rally with a kill as SFU went up 23-21
- After a Dukes' kill, Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa East) put SFU on the doorstep of a fifth with her 10th kill and sent it five with her 11th

SET FIVE
- Adams kept the momentum rolling with an early kill to give SFU the first point
- Neither team could get an advantage as they traded the first 10 points
- Duquesne got the first two-point lead of the set at 7-5 off an SFU attack error and grew to 8-5 at the cross-over
- A kill and an ace from Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) got the Red Flash within one, but the Dukes built back a three-point lead at 11-8
- A kill from Adams and a timely ace from Shannon Thomas (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria) made it 12-11 only to see the Dukes go back up 13-11
- The teams would trade points until the Dukes were up 14-12, when Tyus made it 14-13 with her 19th kill
- A long rally would go the way of the Dukes, who edged out the match 15-13 in the fifth

LOOKING AHEAD
Saint Francis stays in the Keystone State this weekend, heading to Philadelphia for the Valley Forge Invite hosted by Penn. The Red Flash will take on in-state foe Lehigh on Friday morning and Radford on Friday afternoon before wrapping up the tourney with the host Quakers on Saturday morning.
