SFU hits the road for NEC matches at CCSU and Merrimack

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer (6-4-0, 3-1-0 NEC) hits the road for matches at Central Connecticut State (0-10-1, 0-5-0 NEC) on Friday, Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. and Merrimack (6-3-2, 4-0-0 NEC) on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 3 p.m.
 
Scouting Central Connecticut State
The Blue Devils currently sit in last place in the Northeast Conference standings and are winless in NEC play. CCSU is coming off a 5-1 defeat at Fairleigh Dickinson this past Sunday and a 3-2 defeat at Mount St. Mary's on Oct. 11. The Blue Devils are led by Eddie Yepes with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
 
Series History
Saint Francis is 10-13-4 in the all-time series history against CCSU. The Red Flash won last season's meeting 4-2 on Oct. 19, 2018 in Loretto. SFU has won four of the last five meetings with the Blue Devils.
 
Scouting Merrimack
The Warriors are undefeated in NEC play and have won three straight matches. Merrimack defeated St. Francis Brooklyn 1-0 this past Sunday and knocked off LIU 2-1 on Oct. 11. The Warriors sit in first place in the NEC standings with 12 points, but are unable to qualify for the postseason due to its NCAA reclassification period. Aasmund Joedahl and Filippo Begliardi Ghidini lead the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists.

Series History
This will be the first all-time meeting between Merrimack and Saint Francis.
 
NEC playoff picture
With five matches remaining in the regular season, Saint Francis sits in a tie with Bryant for second place in the NEC standings with nine points. The Red Flash are aiming for its first NEC regular season title since 2014.

Tonne earns NEC Rookie of the Week honors
Freshman forward Felix Tonne (Kolbotn, Norway) was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. Tonne scored a key goal in the Red Flash's 3-1 win over Bryant. The Kolbotn, Norway native is second on the team this season in goals (3) and points (8).
 
SFU's offense keeps on producing
Saint Francis has one of the most productive offensives in the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash rank first in the NEC in points (62), goals per game (2.0) and assists per game (2.2).
 
Rosa remains among NEC's best
Despite not scoring a goal against Bryant, junior midfielder Lucas Rosa (Atibaia, Brazil/COC Atibaia) still ranks third in the NEC this season in points (14) and second in goals (6).
