Women's Volleyball looks to get back to .500 with two road matches

Loretto, Pa. – Fresh off a four-set win over Fairleigh Dickinson, the Saint Francis women's volleyball (2-16, 2-4 NEC) hits the road for matches at St. Francis Brooklyn (8-11, 2-3 NEC) on Friday at 4 p.m. and Central Connecticut State (7-10, 3-2) on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Scouting St. Francis Brooklyn

 
The Terriers have won three of their last four as they look to climb back into a playoff position. St. Francis Brooklyn has the third best team hitting pct. in the conference and the third most blocks. Wies Hurkmans is an explosive leaper who leads the conference in hitting pct. at .409%. Una Stevic is another dangerous attacker on the pins, ranking second in the NEC in total kills with 207.

Scouting Central Connecticut State

 
The Blue Devils currently sit in 5th position in the league standings with a 3-2 record and are led by junior outside hitter Emma Henderson. A Second Team All-NEC selection from 2018, Henderson leads the team with 172 kills. She forms a dangerous duo with the 2018 Player of the Year, Madelyn Kaprelyan who has 142 kills. The Blue Devils have a lot of size up front and are second in the league in blocks (1.85 per set) and opponent hitting % (1.84).
 
Tyus Sets the School Record 
 
Sophomore Madi Tyus (Plano, TX/Bishop Lynch) put on an all-time performance in last Saturday's win over Fairleigh Dickinson, tying the school record with 27 kills and adding 23 digs for her second career 20/20 game. Tyus now sits on top of the record book with Nichole Hyer who recorded 27 kills twice, but both came in five-set matches. Tyus accomplished the feat in four sets to set the single game record for kills per set. 

McGraw Enjoy Career Night

Tyus wasn't the only one who had a career-night vs. Fairleigh Dickinson. Sophomore Keara McGraw (Austin, TX/James Bowie) added a career-high 17 kills and joined Tyus in the double-double column with 14 digs.
 
Trying to Get Over the Hump
 
SFU is still searching for its first win away from home this season. The Red Flash are 2-1 at DeGol Arena and 0-15 at any other venue.
 
Dig Pink A Success
 
Saturday's Dig Pink game was a huge success as the event raised $1,000 to benefit the American Volleyball Coaches' Association's Dig Pink/Side Out Cancer charities.
