Men's soccer hosts Sacred Heart Sunday

Loretto, Pa. – Saint Francis men's soccer (7-5-0, 4-2-0 NEC) hits the home stretch of its regular season schedule hosting Sacred Heart (2-8-2, 1-2-2 NEC) on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m.

Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers have struggled so far this season with a five-match losing skid in the middle of its schedule. Sacred Heart finally snapped out of the streak with scoreless ties against LIU and Fairleigh Dickinson. SHU is coming off a 3-1 win over Mount St. Mary's on Oct. 18. Segundo Navarro leads the team with 12 points on six goals. The sophomore forward ranks first in the conference in shots per game (5.08).

Series History
Saint Francis is 18-2-2 in the all-time series history against Sacred Heart. The Red Flash have won the last ten meetings with the Pioneers, including a 4-2 victory in last season's meeting on Sept. 28, 2018 in Fairfield, Conn.

NEC Playoff Picture
With three matches remaining in the regular season, Saint Francis is in the driver seat to host the 2019 Northeast Conference Men's Soccer Championships Nov. 15-17. Merrimack leads the league with 15 points, but is unable to qualify for the postseason due its NCAA reclassification period. Saint Francis is next with 12 points, while Bryant and St. Francis Brooklyn are tied for third with nine points. The Red Flash hold the head-to-head tiebreakers over both the Bulldogs and the Terriers.

SFU win streak snapped at Merrimack
Saint Francis headed into last weekend's contest at Merrimack with a four-match winning streak. The Warriors scored a goal in the third minute off a penalty kick and that was all that was needed to knock off the Red Flash, 1-0.

Red Flash offense paving the way in the NEC
Saint Francis continues to lead the NEC in several of the main offensive statistical categories. The Red Flash rank first in points (71), goals per game (1.92) and assists per game (2.08).
