Loretto, Pa. – The Saint Francis football team (4-6, 2-6 NEC) will try to put an end to its three-game losing streak on Saturday when it hosts Wagner (1-9, 1-4 NEC) in its regular-season finale on ESPN3 at noon.
SCOUTING WAGNER
The Seahawks have struggled offensively and were held to seven points last week at Sacred Heart. Owners of the eighth ranked scoring offense, Wagner is led by transfer quarterback Steve Alexander. He has completed 57% of his passes, 46 to Jeremia Lorick. Joshua DeCambre has caught four of Alexander's seven touchdown passes. Alexander can also hurt you with his legs, rushing for a team-high five touchdowns. Wagner has been held under 20 points in seven of its 10 games.
Wagner leans on its game-wrecking pass rusher Cameron Gill on defense. Gill ranks second in the NEC in sacks with 8.5 and tackles for a loss with 16.5. Santoni Graham leads Wagner with 66 tackles.
SERIES HISTORY
Wagner leads the series 22-6 but the teams have split the last four meetings, each protecting their home turf. The Seahawks won last year's meeting 23-22 on a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds.
MAN ON A MISSION
Redshirt junior
Ra'Shaun Henry (Killeen, Texas /Copperas Cove) has put it all together over the last three weeks. The Killeen, Texas native has caught 11 passes in each of the last three games and is the first Saint Francis player to record 100 or more receiving yards in three straight games since
Kamron Lewis (Fresno, Calif./Edison) did so to end the 2016 season. Henry is averaging 178.3 yards per game over the last three games and ranks second in the NEC in receptions per game at 6.6. and third in receiving yards per game at 80.0 yards per contest. He needs 124 yards over his last three games to become just the third SFU receiver to go over 1,000 yards in a season. Five of Henry's seven career touchdowns have come in the last four weeks.
FOUR IN A ROW FOR BROWN
Henry isn't the only one enjoying an impressive streak. Redshirt sophomore quarterback
Jason Brown (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) has tossed three touchdown passes in four straight games and has 20 touchdown passes on the season. Brown needs three passing touchdowns over the next two games to break
Zack Drayer's (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) single-season school record of 22 td passes in a season, set in 2016. He needs just 31 yards to become the third SFU quarterback to throw for 2,500 yards in one season.
LEE LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore linebacker Brian Lee Jr. had a career day at No. 17 CCSU, tying for the team lead with 12 tackles, while setting career-highs with 3.5 tackles for a loss and three sacks. Lee leads Saint Francis with five sacks this season and is third on the team with 58 tackles in his first year as a starter. Lee had his first career interception two weeks ago, returning it 65 yards in a loss at Duquesne.
HEARTBREAKING SEASON
Saint Francis has to feel snake-bitten with three of its four conference losses coming in overtime. The Red Flash had played just one overtime game in the previous six seasons but have gone to an extra period in 50% of NEC games this season, losing all three. Saint Francis has held a second half lead in all four of its NEC losses and a fourth quarter lead in three of them. Dating back to last season, nine of SFU's last 13 losses have been by one score.
