Red Flash fall on Senior Day to LIU Brooklyn, 75-69

Loretto, Pa. – Senior Jess Kovatch (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) was one of four Red Flash players in double figures with 21 points, but the Saint Francis women's basketball team (12-14, 9-5 NEC) fell to hot shooting LIU Brooklyn (4-21, 3-11 NEC) in a 75-69 Senior Day defeat on Saturday at DeGol Arena.

"LIU Brooklyn played a strong game after the first quarter," Interim Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl said. "They moved the ball extremely well. We at times got some deflections and steals out of some things. Overall, their ball movement really hurt both our zone and our man defense."
 
First Quarter Recap
  • Saint Francis got off to a solid start as Aunesha Williams (Miami, FL/McEachern (Morgan State)) scored the Red Flash's first six points to take a 6-4 lead with 6:56 to play in the opening period

  • SFU shot 23-of-67 from the floor and 10-of-32 from three-point range, while LIU was 24-of-61 from the field and a stellar 13-of-25 from behind the arc
  • The Red Flash won the battle on the boards with a 44-38 rebounding advantage
