The Red Flash Take it to the Terriers 18-8

Spartanburg, SC – Sophomore Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) tallied five goals and Senior Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) tallied four to help lead the Saint Francis lacrosse team (1-4) to its first victory of the season, 18-8 over Wofford on Thursday afternoon.
 
Turning Point 

After Wofford's Hannah Mutch tied the game at four midway through the first half, the Red Flash responded with a 5-0 scoring run that allowed SFU to take a 9-5 lead into the half. Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) netted the goal for the Red Flash that broke the stalemate and sparked the scoring run. Maggie Luzier (Boonsboro, Maryland/Boonsboro), Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard), and Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale) tallied goals during the run, which was eventually snapped by the Terriers Ally Furnari 13 seconds before halftime. After halftime, Saint Francis put together a 4-0 run that put the game out of reach and secured the Red Flash victory.

  • Scott tallied five goals and Day tallied four to lead the Saint Francis offense.
  • Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School), Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford), and Sam Scott (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) each netted two goals. 
  • Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), Maggie Luzier (Boonsboro, Maryland/Boonsboro), and Lauren Ryan (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep) each put one past the goalkeeper in the win.
