Red Flash fall to Mountaineers in conference opener

Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis women's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-1) dropped its conference opener against Mount Saint Mary's 8-15 on Friday, despite a career day from Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) who matched her career high in goals (5) and points (6).
 
Turning Point
 
The Mountaineers started the game on a 6-0 scoring run, which was eventually snapped by an unassisted goal by Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) at the 18:32 mark. Saint Francis went on to outscore Mount Saint Mary's 5-2 to close out the first half and cut its deficit to three at halftime. After halftime, MSM's Jordan Butler and SFU's Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford) traded goals to keep Saint Francis within three midway through the second half. During the final 16 minutes of the game, the Mountaineers outscored the Red Flash 6-2 to secure its first conference win of the season 15-8.

  • Livia Baker (Fallston, Md./Fallston High School) tallied her sixteenth goal of the season, extending her scoring streak to eight straight games. 
  • Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) netted her seventh goal on the year, giving her at least one in her last five games.
  • Autumn McHenry (Branford, Conn./Branford) leads all freshman with nine goals for the Red Flash.  
  • Senior Ashley Stoessel (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) made a season-high 12 saves against the Mountaineers.
