LORETTO, PA- Saint Francis honored the Military prior to Tuesday's doubleheader Pitt and earned a split with their in-state rival, rallying to win an 11-3 run-ruled second game after falling 6-4 in game one.
1st Sergeant for Headquarters Company 2/104th General Support Aviation Battalion Gregory Chuhran threw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to game one and both teams donned camouflage in their uniform as part of the Military Day festivities.
GAME ONE
Christina Clark (Avon, Ohio/Avon High School) got the game one start and went the distance, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out four against three walks.
Sierra McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) led the offense with a pair of hits and two rbi while
Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) supplied the power, with a solo shot to left.
The teams traded solo home runs in the second inning, with Alexee Haynes going deep to left for Pitt and Bower answering with own drive over the left field wall. After Pitt took the lead in the fifth, the Red Flash answered with a three spot of their own in the bottom of the inning. Saint Francis took advantage of a pair of Panther errors to start the inning and took the lead on
Sierra McKee's (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) two-run single. Jordy Frank followed with her own run-scoring single, giving Saint Francis a 4-2 lead. Pitt used the long ball to tie and eventually take the lead in the late innings. In the sixth, Alexis Solak and Alexee Haynes went back-to-back to tie the game, with Haynes' being her second of the game. After a one-two-three bottom of the sixth, Solak matched Haynes with her second homer of the game, a go-ahead, two-run shot in the top of the seventh. Saint Francis threatened in the bottom of the seventh, with a Frank double putting runners on second and third with two out, but a grounder to short ended the threat and the game.

GAME TWO
Mikayla Bower (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) got the ball for game two and earned the complete game win, throwing six innings of six-hit, three-run ball, walked two and struck out two.
Hayley Norton (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) had the big blow of the game, slugging a grand slam over the right field wall as part of a six-run second inning.
Cheyenne McKee (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) added a two-run homer of her own and
Halle Marion (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) added a two-run single to pace a balanced offense. Bower did an excellent job limiting the Panther offense, escaping a pair of jams with two runners on. The defense also helped out Bower, highlighted by a perfect throw from
Halle Marion (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) in right field to nab a runner at the plate.

With the split, the Red Flash now sit at 18-24 on the season while Pitt is now 7-33. Saint Francis remains at home for games three and four of the six-game home stand on Saturday against Sacred Heart.
