Loretto, Pa. - Saint Francis women's basketball leaves for its Australian foreign tour on Tuesday and will arrive in Melbourne on Aug. 8. The team will spend six days in Melbourne and four days in Sydney over its 11-day stay in Australia.

While in Melbourne, the Red Flash are scheduled to visit the Queen Victoria Market, take a day trip along the Great Ocean Road and go on a Melbourne Laneway Tour.

SFU will play four exhibition games against semi-pro teams in Australia with its first coming against the Southern Peninsula Sharks on Aug. 10. The team will then attend an Australian Rules Football game and visit Healesville Sanctuary, which is an Australian Wildlife Park.

The Red Flash will play the Ringwood Hawks on Aug. 12. The team will participate in a youth basketball clinic before taking on the Sunbury Jets on Aug. 13.

Saint Francis will fly from Melbourne to Sydney on Aug. 14 and have a sights tour exploring the historic 'Rocks' district of Sydney. The team will tour the Sydney Opera House before taking on the Basketball Australia Center of Excellence on Aug. 15. In its final full day in Australia, SFU will climb the Sydney Harbor Bridge and ride the Harbor Ferry to Manly Beach.

In addition to the education benefits of the trip, the Red Flash will be able to come together as a team and integrate the three freshmen and new coaching staff into game action. SFU will have to adapt to FIBA rules, which include using a different ball and a 24-second shot clock.
