Allison Appleton's (Millersville PA/Penn Manor) five-over 77 helped Saint Francis occupy fourth position after day one of the Roseann Schwartz Invitational hosted by Youngstown State.
Appleton closed her round with a birdie on the par-5 18th, her only birdie of the day, and sits in a t-7th entering tomorrow's final round of action.
Sophomore
Michelle Cabotaje (Fort Washington, MD/Bishop McNamara) had a solid season-opening round with an 81 and was followed by an 83 from sophomore
Sara Klinchock (Ligonier, PA/Ligonier Valley), an 84 from freshman
Abby Zambruno (Mount Pleasant, PA/Greensburg Central)Â and an 86 from sophomore
Hannah Folk (Chicora, PA/Butler Area ).
The round of the day went to Youngstown State's Danae Rugola who posted a 3-under 69. The Penguins lead the tournament with a team total of (-1) and is followed by Cleveland State (+16), Niagara (+24) and Saint Francis (+24). Saint Francis bested NEC-member Mount St. Mary's by 46 overall strokes as the Mountaineers sit in sixth place.
Round 2 gets underway tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
