Men's soccer match at VCU canceled; Red Flash set to play at ODU Sunday

Loretto, Pa. - Saint Francis men's soccer match at VCU Friday has been canceled due to the impending hurricane. The Red Flash (0-1) will now play at Old Dominion (0-2) Sunday at 6 p.m. as part of the 44^th annual Stihl Classic.

The Monarchs are searching for their first win of the season after dropping a 2-1 decision to LIU in the season opener and a 3-2 (2OT) defeat to ETSU. Redshirt junior midfielder Deniz Dogan leads ODU with four points on two goals, while redshirt senior midfielder Sebastien Hauret has two points on a goal.

Series History
Old Dominion and Saint Francis are tied 1-1 in the all-time series history. The Red Flash won the most recent meeting after pulling off a 5-3 upset over No. 20 ODU in the Stihl Classic in Norfolk on Sept. 1, 2017.

Canineu nets goal in season-opener
Senior midfielder Lucas Canineu (Corbin, Ky/Corbin) scored a goal in the 89th minute in the season opener against Siena. Canineu headed the ball into the back of the net off an assist from Colin Serredszum (Montpellier, France/) and Gabe Quintero (Clarksville, MD/River Hill). The Corbin, Ky. native had five shots in the match, two of which were on goal.

Rosa returns with penalty kick goal
Junior midfielder Lucas Rosa (Atibaia, Brazil/COC Atibaia) returned after sitting out most of last season with an injury. The Atibaia, Brazil native scored on a penalty kick in the 79^th minute against Siena.
