Fairfield, Conn. – The Red Flash Field Hockey team was shutout by Fairfield on Sunday, 5-0. The Stags controlled the teams' first meeting since 2011, which dropped Saint Francis 0-3 all-time in the series.
The first quarter ended with Fairfield up 1-0, and they tallied two more goals in the second quarter for a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Fairfield then scored one goal in both the third and fourth quarters for the 5-0 victory.
For Saint Francis, Taylor Massage (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) registered the most shots of the day (3). Claudia Marzec (Whitinsville, Mass./Moses Brown School) stopped six shots in goal.
Next up for Saint Francis is its first home match of the season, a 3:00 pm first draw against Appalachian State at DeGol Field.
