St. Charles, Mo. – The Red Flash men's volleyball team (1-2) fell to Lindenwood (2-1) on Friday night in Missouri, 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25).
Set One
· Lindenwood jumped out to a 5-0 start.
· Lindenwood continued to pull away, but SFU cut the lead to six (15-9).
· This was the closest the Red Flash got, as the Lions extended their lead and won by 12.
· Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) led the Red Flash with three kills in the set.
· Roman Szwabinsky (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) added three assists.
· Final Score – Lindenwood 25, SFU 13
Set Two
· The teams traded blows to begin the second set seeing multiple ties until 14-14. From there, Lindenwood used a 4-1 to gain a 18-15 lead.
· The Red Flash caught a big stride after falling behind. SFU used a 10-3 run to turn the match around and tie it at one.
· Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) and Christian Graziano (Williamsville, N.Y./Willamsville South) each registered four kills in the set.
· Roman Szwabinsky (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South) had eight assists.
· Final Score – SFU 25, Lindenwood 21
Set Three
· The Red Flash, feeling the momentum, jumped out to an early 7-3 lead.
· Lindenwood answered shortly after, retaking the lead 12-11.
· The game stayed within one late, with ties at 20, 21, 22 and 23.
· Lindenwood scored the final two points to take the set.
· Michael Fisher (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had three kills in the set and Braden Richard (York, Pa./Central York HS) added two
· Final Score – Lindenwood 25, SFU 23
Set Four
· The Lions started the set with a 4-1 lead.
· Lindenwood was in control of the lead, but SFU stayed close.
· The Red Flash kept within two until 19-17, but the Lions pulled away and eventually won by four.
· Final Score – Lindenwood 25, SFU 21
