Pinos records singles victory as men's tennis falls to Morgan State

Baltimore, Md. – Saint Francis men's tennis fell to Morgan State 4-1 in the season-opener on Sunday at Twin Lakes Racquet Club.

Junior Sebastian Pinos (Quito, Ecuador/Compuinformatica) recorded the only win for the Red Flash at No. 1 singles in a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 victory over the Bears' Serhii Kharchev. In No. 2 singles, Morgan State's Cem Erturk defeated Jordi Garcia (Barcelona, Spain/IES Vallès), 6-2, 6-3. The Bears' Nihit Rawal knocked off Andrew Teixeira (Sao Paulo, Brazil/ETEC Getúlio Vargas) 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles. SFU's Daniel Vinces (Lima, Peru/Universidad de Piura) fell at No. 5 singles to Mark Amaefule, 6-0, 6-1.

Morgan State captured the doubles point by virtue of winning at No. 2 and No. 3. Erturk and Ceylan knocked off Vinces and Christian Banti (Pisa, Italy/IISS Antonio Pesenti). SFU's Teixeira and Derek Roehner (Weston, FL/Cypress Bay) fell at No. 3 doubles to Rawal and Sebastian Lopez, 6-2.

Saint Francis will return to action at Lehigh on Saturday, Jan. 25.
