LORETTO, Pa. – Saint Francis women's volleyball coach Sara McMullen has announced the addition of Shaughn McDonald to her staff as an assistant coach.
 
McDonald joins the Red Flash after a stint at Pitt as the Interim Director of Volleyball Operations, where he worked closely with the women's volleyball team in their day-to-day operations. McDonald previously served as a volunteer assistant at Pitt in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, where he helped lead the team to a 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship victory.

"I am very excited to welcome Shaughn back to Saint Francis," said McMullen. "He is a graduate of the school and men's volleyball program - we are excited to have him back at the university as our assistant coach. After graduating from SFU he worked at Pitt and USF where he learned from great coaches and great programs. He is a passionate, hard worker who is eager to learn and better the people around him. I think his experience at SFU as a student-athlete is going to be a great asset to us recruiting. He has lived the life of a student-athlete on our campus and can help relate this to athletes in the recruiting process."
 
Prior to his most recent time at Pitt, McDonald worked at South Florida as the Director of Volleyball Operations, assisting with the daily operations of the volleyball program as well as assisting during practice and game days.

"It feels great to be back at Saint Francis, this time being a coach instead of a student," said McDonald. "I am very excited to work with Coach McMullen after seeing her vision for this program to have high standards and succeed at a high level, as well as her absolute passion in helping mold good human beings. It is an honor to come back to my alma mater to work with these student-athletes and help Saint Francis University pursue an NEC Championship!"
 
McDonald gained head coaching experience at the club level when he led the St. Pete Volleyball Club in Florida. He also worked as an assistant coach with the Pittsburgh Elite Volleyball Association and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School.

Shaughn McDonald is a 2018 alumnus of Saint Francis University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sports Management. McDonald was a member of the Saint Francis Men's Volleyball team from 2014-2018.
