Loretto, Pa – The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team was unable to take advantage of the cold weather in its season opener, dropping a 15-8 decision to the Radford Highlanders.
How It Happened
Radford put together a 9-3 scoring run over the first half and kept Saint Francis at arm's reach over the final 30 minutes to secure the win.
Strong Attack
Junior midfielder
Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) opened the scoring for the Red Flash at 18:26 of the first half, putting a stop to a 4-0 Radford run to open the scoring. The Highlanders responded with the next five before junior
Amanda Heidt (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy)'s first goal of the season. Scott found the back of the net again as time expired in the first half to bring the deficit to six going into halftime. The Red Flash got as close as five on two occasions in the second half, the latter at 12-7 after a goal from senior
Lauren Ryan (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep), but couldn't cut the deficit any closer.
