Claremont, CA. – The SFU water polo team hits the road as they head to California to take part in the Gary Troyer Tournament in Axelrood Pool at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College. Here the Red Flash will take on five other competitors with 5 matchups between Friday March 6
th, Saturday March 7
th and Sunday March 8
th.
Upcoming matchups- The Red Flash play two on Friday, two on Saturday and one final game on Sunday to round out the Gary Troyer Tournament.
The first matchup of the weekend is against the University of Redlands on Friday at 11:15 a.m. SFU and the Bulldogs have only matched up once in 2017 where the Red Flash came out on top outscoring them with an 8 to 6 win.
The next matchup of the weekend is against a familiar competitor, California Baptist University at 4:15 p.m. The Lancers came out on top, 12-4, on February 16
th this season. The Red Flash look for redemption this weekend to even out the career record.
Next up is Loyola Marymount University at 12:45 a.m. on Saturday afternoon. The Red Flash and the Lions have never matched up before. The Lions are 8-6 on the season thus far. SFU looks to come out on top for a first career win against LMU.
The fourth game of the weekend is against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday evening. SFU and CMS have matched up twice before, both in 2017. SFU took the first ever matchup with a 10-7 win and dropped the second one in a close matchup, losing 7-8. This weekend SFU looks the take the series lead in wins.
For the last matchup of the weekend, SFU will take on the University of La Verne on Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. These two have competed a total of three times so far with SFU having the lead in wins. Last season Saint Francis came away with a big overtime win, taking it 11-10. In 2018 SFU as well won 12 to 8. In the first ever matchup of these two teams, La Verne recorded their only win against the Red Flash, winning 11-17. Looking towards this weekend, the Red Flash look to lengthen their winning streak over the leopards.

- Freshman Addison Williams (Clovis, Calif/Sanger High School ) tallied 9 goals in total last weekend
- Freshman Heather Jacobson (San Jose, Calif./Presentation High School ) is getting it done this season keeping SFU in every game
- Senior Erin O'Neill (Landsdale, Pa/North Penn) keeps the momentum going tallying 5 notable goals last weekend
