Red Flash defeat Bison in Nation's Capitol



Washington, DC - The Saint Francis University women's lacrosse team (2-4) defeated the Howard University Bison (0-4) in dominant fashion with a score of 21-6.

 

How it Happened

Red Flash came out ready to make a statement in today's match up against the Bison. Twelve members were able to find the back of the net at least once in a dominating showcase of the attack. Sophomore attack Catherine Russo (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) started the goal scoring spree with just four seconds into the contest, and ended the day with her first collegiate hat trick. The Bison responded quickly, however the Red Flash pulled away with four unanswered goals. Junior Emileigh Scott (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) led the way collecting four goals and one assist one the day, as well as eight won draw controls. Four other Red Flash took advantage of goal scoring opportunities logging at least two on the day, senior Lauren Ryan (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep), redshirt senior Morgan Day (New Park, Pa./Kennard Dale), and freshmen Makenna Luzier (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro) and Elizabeth Fisher (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown). The Red Flash goalkeepers Elyssa Enrique (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and Lindsey Kilian (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway Regional) split time in the cage, combining for only four needed saves on the day.

 

Inside the Box

  • Red Flash dominated the Bison in shots taken 32-13

  • Saint Francis collected 15 ground balls

  • Draw controls were in Red Flash favor 18-11

 

Notes

  • Freshman Kelly Dickson (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon H.S.) recorded her first collegiate goal

  • This was the highest scoring win since season ending victory over Mount Saint Mary's (3/26/17)

  • Twelve Red Flash found the back of the net, five of which came off the bench
