Somerset, N.J. - For the third consecutive year and the fifth time in the last 11 years, the Saint Francis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised the most money in the annual Northeast Conference Money Wars competition.
Saint Francis SAAC raised $5,591.64 this year for the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation, to top second-place Mount St. Mary's by more than $1,500. Over the last 10 years, SFU's SAAC has raised over $32,000.
"I am so incredibly proud of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the entire Flash Fam for getting behind this initiative to benefit the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation again this year," said Associate Director for Student-Athlete Development and Academic Services, Sarah Ross. "I am blown away by how passionate our student-athletes get when an opportunity surfaces for them to help such a worthy cause. Earlier this week, we celebrated the anniversary of Maurice Stokes, whose story is the driving force behind the 'Become that Someone' theme that our department and university have embraced. Finishing atop the conference for the third straight year in this fundraising competition demonstrates just how dedicated our student-athletes are to Becoming that Someone in all facets of life. I am truly humbled by the generosity and selflessness of our student-athletes and entire SFU community."
The annual NEC Money Wars Fundraiser is organized by Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on all NEC campuses. One hundred percent of the raised funds go to the Children's Cancer Recovery Foundation. The Harrisburg, PA-located organization assists children under age 18 & their families who are facing the hardships of a cancer diagnosis.
