Zeremenko Joins Softball Staff as Graduate Assistant

LORETTO, Pa. – Head softball coach Jessica O'Donnell announced the addition of Giorgiana Zeremenko to the coaching staff on Monday. Zeremenko will serve as the graduate assistant coach.

"Giorgiana brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from her playing days at the University of Pittsburgh to her coaching days at the University of Louisville that will certainly help our student-athletes grow, both on and off the field," said O'Donnell. "I am very happy to have her on board as she will have an immediate impact with us here at Saint Francis!"

Zeremenko comes to Loretto from Louisville where she spent the past 17 months as the volunteer assistant coach at the University of Louisville. During her tenure, the Cardinals reached the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament.

At Louisville, Zeremenko worked primarily with the hitters, catchers and infielders as the Cardinals offense outperformed its opponents in every offensive category in 2019. The Louisville offense tied the program record with 31 triples and set a new program record in stolen bases (106), annihilating the previous record of 68. The Cardinals drew 187 walks in 2019, just three shy of the program record, as Zeremenko discussed in-game offensive approaches with the players.

From August 2019 through March 2020, Zeremenko served as the assistant coach of the Indiana Fusion Elite (Pinkston 18U). She worked mostly with the pitchers and catchers but also spent time coaching both first and third base during games.

Zeremenko is a 2018 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science. While at Pittsburgh, she was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2017 and was a two-time Scholar Athlete (2016, 2017).

The catcher/infielder holds the program record in home runs, hitting 46 during her career as a Panther, and is tied for second in career RBI's (127). Zeremenko owns three single-season records, hitting 17 home runs with a .487 on-base percentage and a .888 slugging percentage during her sophomore season in 2016. She is a two-time All-Region selection, earning first-team honors as a senior in 2018 and second-team honors in 2016. Zeremenko was also named to the All-ACC First Team in 2018.

Zeremenko was a member of the first Pittsburgh team to reach the ACC Championship Game and NCAA Regional Final in 2015 and the first Pittsburgh team to win the ACC Coastal Division in 2018.

While at Pittsburgh, Zeremenko also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She was named President of the Professional Development Subcommittee for the 2017-18 school year.
