» Saint Francis University women's volleyball defeated Sacred Heart University, 3-2 on Friday to go 3-0 in Northeast Conference action for the first time since 2006.
» This match ended a five-game losing streak for the Red Flash between the two programs. Making it the first time that the Red Flash defeated the Pioneers since 2017.
» Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch), Maggie Hogan (Northern Cambria, Pa./Northern Cambria) and Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) all recorded a double-double in the match on Friday making the victory a true team effort for Saint Francis University.
The match between the two teams was a back-and-forth battle that ultimately turned out to be an all-Red Flash affair. Sacred Heart claimed the first set, 25-19. However, the Red Flash came back ready to fight in the second set going on an 8-0 run to allow Tyus to clinch the set with yet another kill, 25-15.
However, the Pioneers were not finished yet. The third set went back and forth between the two teams. Sacred Heart claimed the third set, 25-22 to put them one set ahead of the Red Flash.
The Red Flash came back to claim the fourth set, 25-23. The spark started in the fourth set for the Red Flash when the Pioneers put up a couple of service errors, for the squad to go on a 2-0 run to start the fourth set. Followed by an 8-0 run for Saint Francis University.
The fifth and final set, the Red Flash could not be stopped. Although the Pioneers went on a 3-0 lead to start the fifth set, the squad persevered to come back and go on a 4-0 run themselves. The combined kills from Tyus, Hogan and
Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa East) clinched the set, 15-9 for the Red Flash and ultimately claimed the match.

Recent Northeast Conference Player of the Week,
Madi Tyus led the team in kills today with 26, coming close to beating her record of 27 kills in a single match. Followed closely behind was fellow senior leader,
Nicole Adams with 17 kills.
Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week,
Maggie Hogan collected ten kills on the day, snagged two serving aces and put up 18 digs for her squad.

Olivia Walczak (Buffalo, N.Y./Clarence) led the team with three serving aces a piece on the day.
Aubrey Deptula (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton Community) led her team with eight blocks Friday.
Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) led the Red Flash in assists with 45 and posted 12 digs in the match.

Maggie Means (Connellsville, Pa./ Connellsville Area) led the team with 24 digs on the day.
FLASH NUGGETS
The Red Flash are now 3-0 in conference action for the first time since 2006. This match marks the first time that the Red Flash have defeated the Pioneers since 2017.
The last time the two programs met, Sacred Heart University beat Saint Francis University in straight sets.
