» Saint Francis University women's volleyball lost to the Bulldogs of Bryant University, 3-1 in a first-place battle on Saturday.

The Red Flash took a 3-0 lead in the second set and continued to maintain the lead throughout the start of the set. However, the Bulldogs were able to come back and go on a 5-0 run to make the score, 18-13 in the second set and secure the set, 25-19. This was the fuel that the Bulldogs needed to claim the next two sets and the match.
FLASH MOMENTS
Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa East) started the match off with a few great kills to put the Red Flash on the board and maintain an early lead in the first set. The Bulldogs took the first lead of the match in the first set at 5-4. After a couple of kills from
Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) and
Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch), followed by combined blocks from Tyus and
Sophie Rice (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) the Red Flash were able to gain a four-point advantage over the Bulldogs, 12-8. However, the Bulldogs came back to claim a three-point lead over Saint Francis University. A service ace from Tyus allowed Saint Francis to tie the set, 22-22. Two kills from Tyus and Adams allowed the Red Flash to claim the first set, 25-22.
Rice put the Red Flash on the board 1-0 in the third set. However, that would be the only lead that the Red Flash would have in the third set. A few 2-0 runs from the Red flash kept them in the set, but the Bulldogs controlled the entire third set and clinched the set, 25-21.
The Red Flash controlled the fourth set early on to go on a 5-0 run and claim the biggest lead for the Red Flash in the game with a six-point advantage. However, the Bulldogs came back yet again to go on a 6-0 run themselves and ultimately secure the match by claiming the fourth and final set, 25-21.
FLASH NUGGETS
Adams matched her career high of 23 kills in a single match in the game. Adams' career high came first earlier this season when the squad faced Sienna in a five set victory.
Freshman
Olivia Walczak (Buffalo, N.Y./Clarence) led the Red Flash with two serving aces on the day.
Sweeney led the squad with 42 assists in the game.
Libero
Maggie Means (Connellsville, Pa./ Connellsville Area) led her team with 19 digs in the match. This puts Means at 288 digs in her rookie season.

Women's volleyball will still stay on the road next week to take on the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson University on Saturday, October 23 at 4:00 p.m. A team the Red Flash has already beat once this season in straight sets.
