Volleyball Falls to Bryant in Thrilling Match

» Saint Francis University women's volleyball lost to Bryant, 3-0 on Saturday. However, the match was a thrilling battle between the two teams.
» Kimmy Sweeney (Broadview Heights, Ohio/Beaumont School) collected a double-double by leading the Red Flash with 16 digs and 33 assists on the day.
» Madi Tyus (Plano, Texas/Bishop Lynch) and Nicole Adams (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa East) led the squad in kills and service aces. The senior duo collected 30 kills combined and one service ace a piece.

TURNING POINTS OF THE GAME
The entire match was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. Bryant was able to maintain the lead after tying the third set, 6-6. This allowed the Bulldogs to be able to claim the third and final set, 25-21 and ultimately to claim the game, 3-0.

FLASH MOMENTS

The Red Flash maintained control early on in the extended first set. However, Bryant took the lead for the first time in the first set to make the score 8-7. The squad was down 21-18, but with blocks from Jeanie Edgington (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/Olmstead Falls) and Adams the Red Flash tied the set 22-22. However, Bryant was able to claim the first set, 26-24.
 
The second set continued to be a battle for both teams. The Red Flash took its biggest lead of the match in the second set with a four-point advantage over the Bulldogs to make the score 17-13. However, the Bulldogs were able to come back an claim the second set, 25-21.

FLASH NUGGETS
Adams, Edgington, Tyus and Sophie Rice (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) each led the Red Flash squad in blocks by collecting two each.
 
The Red Flash are now 7-3 in conference with four games left on the regular season schedule.

UP NEXT
The Red Flash will stay at home next week for back-to-back matches on Friday and Saturday. First, to take on Sacred Heart University on Friday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. and second, the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, November 6 at 5:00 p.m.
