TOLEDO, Ohio – The Saint Francis men's tennis team (0-1) opened the 2021 season with a 0-7 loss at Toledo (1-0) on Friday.

SINGLES
- Senior Sebastian Pinos fell to Toledo's Cole Shoults at No. 1 singles. Shoults took set one 6-4 and set two 6-3.
- At No. 2 singles, sophomore Andrew Teixeira dropped both sets to UT's Thawin Suksathaporn 6-3 and 6-1.
- Sophomore Jordi Garcia played No. 3 singles, losing to the Rockets' Krzysztof Wetoszka 6-0 in both sets.
- At No. 4 singles, sophomore Christian Banti lost to Adam Kovac of Toledo by 6-1 and 6-3 margins.
- Junior Daniel Vinces and Toledo's Max Skaer met at No. 5 singles. After losing the first set 6-2, Vinces pushed the second set to extra games but ultimately fell 7-6.
- At No. 6 singles, senior Samuel Ghigiarelli dropped 6-0 and 6-1 sets to UT's Filip Zupancic.
DOUBLES
- Pinos and Teixeira played at No. 1 doubles against Toledo's Shoults and Wetoszka, losing 6-2.
- Ghigiarelli and Garcia also fell by a 6-2 margin at No. 3 doubles, facing UT's Luis Kleinschnitz and Skaer.
- No. 2 doubles did not finish as Banti and Vinces played Kleinschnitz and Zupanc.
UP NEXT
The Red Flash men host Morgan State on Sunday at noon. The match will be played in Altoona. According to Saint Francis policy, no fans will be permitted to attend.
