Grace Vesco was named a Top Performer for the fourth time this season, following her performances at Akron and against Wagner last week.
Vesco was a perfect 3-0 last week as she pitched three complete games and two shutouts. Vesco finished the weekend with a one-hitter against the Seahawks, totaling seven strikeouts in the 10-0 five-inning win on Sunday. She also pitched a shutout in the 3-0 win over Wagner on Saturday to begin the series. In the 3-0 win, Vesco surrendered just five hits through seven innings as she struck out a career-high 13 batters. She also pitched the complete game victory at Akron, getting seven strikeouts in seven innings.
Last week, Vesco finished with a 0.74 ERA and 27 strikeouts through 19.0 innings as opponents batted just .162 against her. This season, Vesco leads the Red Flash pitching staff in ERA (0.90), wins (11), appearances (13), complete games (13), shutouts (7), innings pitched (85.1), strikeouts (97) and opponent batting average (.134). Vesco ranks in the top 26 in the country in five categories, including being second in the nation with seven shutouts.
Earlier today, Vesco was named NEC Pitcher of the Week and an NEC Prime Performer. She has earned Prime Performer honors each of the five weeks of awards this season and has also been named NEC Pitcher of the Month and NEC Pitcher of the Week earlier this season.
The Red Flash is on the road at Merrimack this week, playing a doubleheader on Thursday at noon and another doubleheader on Friday at 11 a.m.
