WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The Saint Francis men's soccer team was able to put the ball on net five times, but fell to the William & Mary Tribe 3-0 in non-conference action on Friday.
The Flash were held without a shot on goal until the 31st minute when Alex Charles (Christ Church/St. Kitts & Nevis) was able to put one on the center of the net that was snuffed out. To close out the first half, Saint Francis had two more chances that were unable to find the back of the net by Alexios Rodriguez (Silver Spring, Md./Dematha Catholic) and Piet Wesling (Hamburg, Germany) in the 36th and 41st minutes, respectively.
Going into the second half down 1-0, Saint Francis was unable to cash in on different chances, including four corner kick from the 57th to the 65th minutes.
After two more goals from William & Mary to make the score 3-0, Saint Francis got their final two shots on goal in the 89th minute. Elie Lubino (Guadeloupe, France/Lycee Tezenas Du Montcel) and Lorenz Ender (Ulm, Germany) both tried their hand, and both came up short.
In goal, Jonas Diesler (Duesseldorf, Germany/Lessing Berufskolleg) was able to scratch five saves while facing eight shots on goal.
For William & Mary, this is their first victory in the teams' matchup history, with Saint Francis winning the previous two matchups.
The Red Flash return to Loretto, Pa. on Wednesday, September 15 to take on the Bison of Bucknell University.
