LORETTO, Pa. -Â Piet Wesling (Hamburg, Germany) was able to notch his second goal of the season after a handball in the box allowed the 6-3 defender shoot one on one against the Bucknell goalkeeper that proved to be the deciding goal in a 2-1 victory on Wednesday.
Wesling was also lined up against Bucknell's top scorer, sophomore Jordan Miller, and held him silent for the first 87 minutes until he was finally able to get the Bison on the board. Over the course of the game, he cleared the ball several times out of the box to ensure that Miller would not have a chance to score.
This stellar defense allowed senior goalkeeper Jonas Dieseler (Duesseldorf, Germany/Lessing Berufskolleg) to only see seven shots on goal, many of which were easy saves.
The Flash were able to go ahead in the first half after Lorenz Ender (Ulm, Germany) took a cross from Tom Schellbach (Freiburg, Germany/Faust Gymnasium) and buried it for the first goal of his career.
For Saint Francis, this is their sixth win against Bucknell and puts their record at home against Bucknell one game over .500 at 4-3.
The win puts their record this season at 2-2 and they will look to move over .500 for the first time this season when they travel to Buffalo, N.Y., to play Canisius on Sunday, September 19.
