PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the second-straight game freshman
Julia Breneman (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) scored the decisive goal to lead Saint Francis to victory after she scored in the 50th minute to lead the Red Flash past Drexel University 2-1 in non-conference field hockey action on Friday.
Breneman, who scored the game-winner in a 3-2 win against Lock Haven one week ago, gave the Red Flash a 2-1 lead when she snuck past the Drexel netminder on the right side at the 48:39 mark. She ranks second on the team with two goals for four points.
Eva Valentini (Junin, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Colegio Marianista Junin), the current Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, tied the game at 1 at the 10:43 mark after the Dragons grabbed the early 1-0 edge in the third minute. She now leads the team with three goals and one assist for seven points. The freshman has posted all seven points in her last three games and has found the twine in each of those matches.
Chloe South (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) made eight saves on the afternoon, including turning away seven shots in the final 57 minutes and two stops after Breneman's decisive score to help secure the victory. The eight saves are the second-most for South this season
The Red Flash have won back-to-back games for the first time since posting a three-game winning streak on September 20-27, 2019.
